E’ arrivato sulle pagine di questo magazine digitale il terzo progetto del 2025, un nuovo Speciale dedicato a un altro personaggio creato in Inghilterra, di grande importanza nella Storia del Fumetto mondiale e pubblicato più volte in Italia.
Anche questo progetto vedrà, con cadenza settimanale, la pubblicazione di un nuovo contributo sia in lingua italiana, al Lunedì, che in lingua inglese, al Giovedì.

MODESTY BLAISE è il nome della protagonista della omonima striscia a fumetti creata dall’autore inglese Peter O’Donnell, che ha esordito sul quotidiano inglese London Evening Standard nel 1963. E’ un’avventuriera, una giovane donna di bell’aspetto che da bambina, rimasta orfana e senza ricordare il suo vero nome o la sua età, aveva vagato per i deserti del medioriente e le città d’Europa, con solo un ex professore come amico e compagno. Lui era un uomo molto anziano e lei, sebbene avesse circa 12 anni, lo protesse dai pericoli del vagabondare e dalla malvagità della gente, e lui ricambiò dandole un’istruzione e un nome.
Quando il suo mentore morì, Modesty continuò da sola e finì da adolescente a gestire una bisca per un piccola organizzazione criminale, “la Rete“. Quando il capo fu assassinato, lei tenne uniti i componenti della banda e ne accrebbe le attività, senza mai trafficare droga, prostituzione o qualsiasi altra forma di sfruttamento umano.
In questo periodo trasse dai guai un altro avventuriero, Willie Garvin, di cui guadagnò la fiducia incondizionata e che divenne il suo “braccio destro”.
Le prime storie narrate nelle strisce di Modesty Blaise, tuttavia, non partono dalla sua infanzia ma da quando ha 26 anni, ha lasciato “la Rete” e vive in Inghilterra, così come il suo ex-luogotenente, Willie. Le avventure iniziano con l’arrivo nel suo attico di Sir Gerald Tarrant, capo di un dipartimento di spionaggio del governo britannico, che le chiede aiuto per risolvere un problema.
Modesty Blaise venne pubblicata con successo non solo sul London Evening Standard ma anche su altri giornali in tutto il mondo, fino al West Australian Newspaper di Perth per quasi quarant’anni, risultando essere una delle strisce più longeve di sempre.
Il suo primo, e probabilmente più famoso, disegnatore fu Jim Holdaway, che morì prematuramente nel 1970 e venne sostituito da Enrique Romero, a cui seguirono John M. Burns, Patrick Wright (solo per un episodio e mezzo) e Nevill Colvin. Nel 1986 ai disegni delle strisce tornò Romero per restare sino alla striscia finale, datata 11 Aprile 2001, che fu la prima ad essere stampata a colori.

I nostri progetti da pubblicare sul MAGAZINE ONLINE così come quelli sul TERRITORIO (le MOSTRE ESPOSITIVE, per intenderci), hanno tutti la stessa modalità di partecipazione.
I disegnatori, gli illustratori, gli scrittori, i giornalisti, le associazioni culturali, i collaboratori dell’associaizone e del sito, vengono invitati a parteciparvi liberamene con la newsletter oppure con per mail.
Gli articoli e i disegni (le illustrazioni) saranno pubblicati sul nostro web magazine
A) Ogni artista potrà partecipare con una singola illustrazione, oppure con un breve fumetto di lunghezza massima di due pagine.
Sono accettate tutte le tecniche: matite, chine, acquerello, olio, acrilico, digitale.
Il formato dell’opera può essere A4 o A3, non più grande.
B) Ogni scrittore (o giornalista): potrà partecipare con un testo cioè un articolo, o con un breve saggio, di almeno 600 parole (3600 caratteri, spazi compresi).
Ogni artista partecipante, potrà inviare l’opera originale su carta, quando il progetto prevede anche l’esposizione collettiva (come in questo caso).
La proprietà dell’opera è dell’artista che l’ha realizzata.
Possono partecipare anche gli Autori di fumetti e gli illustratori che lavorano solo in digitale. In quest’ultimo caso, oltre il file ad alta risoluzioe, se lo vogliono possono anche inviare una stampata dell’opera su carta, firmata.
Non accettiamo lavori fatti con la AI
Oltre l’opera (su carta o digitale) ogni artista è invitato, la comunicare le seguenti informazioni per mail a info@fumettomaniafactory.net:
a) il file dell’illustrazione o della storia a fumetti in formato JPG a 600 dpi
b) l’indicazione del formato dell’opera
c) il titolo dell’opera ed una eventuale didascalia o testo breve legato all’opera
d) il mezzo o la tecnica utilizzata nell’opera.
e) eventuali note di diritto d’autore
che saranno utilizzate per la promozione del progetto stesso e per l’esposizione collettiva.
Ogni opera dovrà essere accompagnata dalla biografia dell’autore e da una sua foto recente, in modo da poter dare la massima visibilità ad ognuno di voi.
La prima dead-line per partecipare a questo Speciale è il 30 dicembre 2025,

BIOGRAFIA
DANIELE TOMASI
Daniele Tomasi è un creativo poliedrico nel campo del Fumetto, svolgendo il ruolo di disegnatore, letterista, colorista, impaginatore, editore.
Con il marchio DTE, “la più piccola casa editrice del mondo”, ha curato e pubblicato tre volumi della serie DebbieDillinger (di cui è anche disegnatore), un albo della serie TetroTeatro (autore di testi e disegni), la rivista digitale Continua… (rivista-contenitore a distribuzione gratuita con opere a fumetti di vari generi e autori, sinora sette numeri) e l’omonima rivista (cartacea, sinora tre numeri, sono previsti nuovi numeri e volumi di grande formato) del progetto Gli Archivi del Fumetto.
Ha realizzato fumetti e illustrazioni per vari editori nazionali (Tunuè, ProGlo, ComixCommunity, UndergroundPress, BotteroEdizioni, Pegasus/Comicus, Antani, Apache, AltaFedeltà).
Si è occupato della grafica editoriale per ProGloEdizioni, GreencomService e Shockdom.
Ha realizzato il lettering di pubblicazioni della Black Velvet e di RW Edizioni.
È stato grafico e illustratore per Palabanda Edizioni e Chimbe.
Organizza corsi sul Linguaggio del Fumetto.

This too will see the publication of a new contribution on a weekly basis, both in Italian on Mondays and in English on Thursdays.
MODESTY BLAISE is the name of the main character in the namesake comic strip created by English author Peter O’Donnell, which debuted in the London Evening Standard newspaper in 1963. She is an adventurer, a beautiful young woman who, as an orphaned child and unable to remember her real name or age, wandered the deserts of the Middle East and the cities of Europe, with only a former professor as a friend and companion. He was a very old man, and although she was about 12 years old, she protected him from the dangers of wandering and the wickedness of the people, and he reciprocated by giving her an education and a name.
When her mentor died, Modesty continued on her own and ended up as a teenager running a gambling den for a small criminal organization, “the Net“. When the leader was murdered, she kept the gang together and expanded its activities, never involving drug trafficking, prostitution, or any other form of human exploitation.
During this period, she rescued another adventurer, Willie Garvin, whose unconditional trust she gained and who became her “right-hand man”.
The first stories told in the Modesty Blaise strips, however, do not begin in her childhood, but when she was 26, had left “the Net” and was living in England, like her former lieutenant, Willie. The adventures begin with the arrival at her attic of Sir Gerald Tarrant, head of a British government intelligence agency, who asks her for help in solving a problem.
Modesty Blaise was successfully published not only in the London Evening Standard but also in other newspapers around the world, including the West Australian Newspaper in Perth for almost forty years, making it one of the longest-running strips of all time.
Its first, and probably most famous, artist was Jim Holdaway, who died prematurely in 1970 and was replaced by Enrique Romero, followed by John M. Burns, Patrick Wright (for only an episode and a half), and Nevill Colvin. In 1986, Romero returned to the strip, remaining until the final strip, dated April 11, 2001, which was the first to be printed in color.

INFORMATIONS TO CONTRIBUTE:
Participation method is the same for all our projects, those that will be published in the ONLINE MAGAZINE as well as the projects on the TERRITORY (the EXHIBITIONS, in other words).
Designers, illustrators, writers, journalists, cultural associations, members of Fumettomania and site contributors are invited to participate freely through newsletter or email.
Articles and drawings (illustrations) will be published on our web magazine, and possibly shown in an exhibition.
The ownership of the work belongs to the artist/writer who created it.
At the end of the exhibition which Fumettomania will possibly organize, each author/owner that have exposed the original artwork will dispose of his work as he wishes: sell it to third parties or donate it to other entities or to the association.
We do not accept works made with AI.
The first deadline to participate in this Special is December 30, 2025.
We will announce more deadlines in the coming weeks.
Writers (or journalists) can participate with a text, i.e. an article, or with a short essay, minimum 600 words (3600 characters, including spaces).
Artists can participate with a single illustration, or with a short comic story of maximum two pages.
All techniques are accepted: pencils, ink, watercolor, oil, acrylic, digital.
Pages size must be A4 or A3.
Each participating artist must send a scan of the illustration or each page of the comic book story as .JPG with 600 dpi resolution.
The following information about the work must be sent via email to info@fumettomaniafactory.net, to be used for the promotion of the project itself and for the collective exhibition:
– size of the pages;
– title of the work and any caption or short text related to the work;
– medium or technique used;
– any copyright notices.
When the project also includes a collective exhibition (as in this case) artists can send even the original artwork or a signed printout of the work to the following address:

Who’s who:
DANIELE TOMASI is a multifaceted creative in the field of ComicArt, acting as artist, letterer, colorist, editor.
With the DTE brand, “the smallest publishing house in the world”, he edited and published three volumes of the “DebbieDillinger” series (where he is even the artist), the first number of “TetroTeatro” magazine (author of texts and drawings), the digital magazine “Continua…” (a free-distribution magazine with comics of various genres and authors, seven issues so far) and three issues of the magazine “Gli Archivi del Fumetto” (new issues and large-format volumes are planned).
He has created comics and illustrations for various Italian publishers (Tunuè, ProGlo, ComixCommunity, UndergroundPress, BotteroEdizioni, Pegasus/Comicus, Antani, Apache, AltaFedeltà).
He has worked as graphic designer for Italian publishers ProGloEdizioni, GreencomService, Shockdom, Palabanda Edizioni and Chimbe.
